How Hotel Spas Work in Miami
Most of Miami's serious spas sit inside beachfront hotels, and almost all of them will take you without a room. The catch is the route in. A few sell a day pass. More let you use the steam rooms, saunas and pools only when you book a treatment. A few keep certain experiences for hotel guests. Read the access rules before you pick, because they decide what your day looks like.
Plan for a service charge on top of the menu price. The Setai, Fontainebleau and 1 Hotel South Beach add 20%, the Biltmore adds 20% automatically, and Faena's spa adds 22%. Several spas also charge more on weekends: 1 Hotel adds 10% on weekends and holidays, and the Biltmore and Faena list higher Friday or weekend rates for some services.
Arrive early. 1 Hotel asks for 15 minutes, The Setai and Fontainebleau for 30, and Fontainebleau wants an hour if you are doing its water circuit. Late arrivals usually get a shorter treatment at the full price. Cancellation windows run from six hours at The Setai to 24 hours at 1 Hotel, the Biltmore and Fontainebleau, with the full charge if you miss it. Most spas below are 18 and over.
Thermal Circuits and Day Passes
If what you want is heat, cold and water rather than a single massage, start here. These three are built around hydrotherapy, and each has a clear way in for people not staying the night.
The Standard Spa, Miami Beach (40 Island Ave) sits on Belle Isle, a short walk from South Beach. Its hydrotherapy circuit includes a Turkish-style hammam, an aroma steam room, a hemlock sauna, an ice room, a Roman waterfall hot tub, an arctic plunge and an infinity pool. The spa and hydrotherapy are open daily from 8am to 10pm. Non-guests can reserve a day pass online Monday through Thursday, subject to availability, or get hydrotherapy access by booking a spa service over $125 Monday through Thursday or over $225 Friday through Sunday. It is adults only, 18 and over.
Carillon Miami Wellness Resort (6801 Collins Ave) in North Beach has a circuit the resort calls one of the country's most expansive: thermal loungers, experiential rain showers, an igloo, a Finnish sauna, a crystal steam room, a vitality tub and an herbal laconium, with separate men's and women's hot and cold areas. The day pass is $179 and up Monday through Thursday and $199 and up Friday through Sunday, and it covers the circuit, the Cabana Pool, beach loungers and complimentary valet. Buy it at the wellness concierge on the fourth floor. The circuit runs 8am to 7pm on weekdays and until 8pm on weekends. Day passes are not offered to anyone under 18.
Lapis Spa at Fontainebleau Miami Beach (4441 Collins Ave) is the Mid-Beach option. Its hydrotherapy centers on a co-ed mineral pool, with an immersion mineral jet bath, a eucalyptus steam room and rain tunnel showers. There is no separate day pass: book a service of 50 minutes or longer and you can use the facilities. The spa is open daily from 9:30am to 6pm and is 18 and over.
South Beach and Mid-Beach Splurges
These are the spas people book for a birthday or the last day of a trip, and they price that way. All three are on Collins Avenue, close to the shops on the Collins Avenue strip and a short ride from Lincoln Road.
Tierra Santa Healing House is on the third floor of Faena Hotel Miami Beach (3201 Collins Ave). The menu leans on South American rituals and the spa's own Tierra Santa line of plant-based muds, scrubs and oils, with shaman-inspired treatments, a thermal sanctuary and body rituals. The oceanfront spa suites have an indoor soaking tub and a balcony facing the water. For couples, the Couples Bath Ritual runs 210 minutes and is listed at $2,360. The spa is open from 9am to 9pm, and you can book online or by phone. Note that the in-room spa experiences are only for Faena hotel guests.
The Setai Miami Beach (2001 Collins Ave) has seven treatment rooms with ocean or city views, five of them couples suites, and works only with Valmont skincare. The headline facial is The Majestic Facial, 90 minutes, built on Japanese kobido massage and Valmont's techniques, at $895 per person. Men's and women's locker rooms each have dry saunas and steam showers, and the spa offers complimentary beach yoga on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Under-16s are not allowed in the spa.
Bamford Wellness Spa is on the second floor of 1 Hotel South Beach (2341 Collins Ave). It pairs the British Bamford line with Natura Bissé and HydraFacial, and the lounge has a steam room and Normatec compression boots. Starting prices are posted: the 80-minute Bamford Signature Treatment is from $355, and the Bamford Signature Facial is $215 for 50 minutes. It is open daily from 9:30am to 6pm, for ages 18 and up, and you can book online, by phone or by email.
Surfside and Sunny Isles
Farther north, the beach gets quieter and the spas get more private. Pair either with an afternoon at Bal Harbour or Aventura.
Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club (9011 Collins Ave, Surfside) has six treatment rooms, an ocean-view tea lounge, a hammam, a steam room and a sauna. Facials include Biologique Recherche treatments such as the Hyper Custom Facial, plus a Kobido Japanese facial and the Surf Club Signature massage, offered from 60 to 120 minutes. Hours are 10am to 8pm Monday through Thursday and 9am to 7pm Friday through Sunday. Book by phone at (305) 381-3333.
Acqualina Spa at Acqualina Resort (17875 Collins Ave, Sunny Isles Beach) covers about 20,000 square feet, with a Finnish sauna, a crystal steam room and an oceanfront terrace with a heated pool and a Roman waterfall. Couples can book the Royal Spa Suite. Call the resort for hours and whether outside guests can book.
The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour is off the list for now: its site says the resort is undergoing a transformation, with plans to welcome guests again starting February 2027.
On the Mainland: The Biltmore
Staying in Coral Gables or Coconut Grove, or just not in the mood for a causeway? The Biltmore Spa at The Biltmore (1200 Anastasia Ave, Coral Gables) is the mainland pick. It covers 12,000 square feet, with eucalyptus steam rooms, Himalayan salt saunas, a couples suite and a full salon. The Vineyard Elixir Ritual is a 110-minute couples experience at $710, or $740 on Fridays and Saturdays. For something shorter, the Spa and Fitness Experience for two is $400 Sunday through Thursday and $420 on Fridays and Saturdays. The spa is open daily from 10am to 7pm; call 305-913-3187 to book. Services are for ages 18 and up, a 20% gratuity is added automatically, and cancellations need 24 hours' notice.
Make a day of it with lunch and a walk on Miracle Mile; our Coral Gables guide has the shops and cafecito stops.
Which Spa for Which Day
For a long, social afternoon of hot and cold with friends, go to The Standard on a weekday or buy the Carillon day pass. If you want one excellent facial, compare The Setai's Valmont menu with the Biologique Recherche facials at The Surf Club. For a couple's splurge, Faena's bath rituals and the Biltmore's Vineyard Elixir Ritual are both built for two. For an easy add-on to a shopping day on South Beach, Bamford posts its prices and opens at 9:30am.
Whichever you choose, book ahead for weekends, ask whether the steam, sauna and pools are included with your treatment, and confirm the service charge before you sign.
