Insider guide
Shopping MiMo.
The story
MiMo, short for Miami Modern, is the historic district along Biscayne Boulevard from roughly NE 50th to 77th Street, lined with mid-century motels and low-slung storefronts. It is a neighborhood strip, not a shopping center, and the shops are spread out, so expect to drive between clusters.
There are three. The vintage shops sit on Biscayne itself, between about 72nd and 77th Street. A small group of shops and studios is around NE 2nd Avenue and 50th Street. And the galleries, thrift and food halls are west and north in Little River and Little Haiti, along NE and NW 2nd Avenue.
What to Expect
Vintage is the reason to come. Fly Boutique (7235 Biscayne Blvd) is a long-running consignment shop with dresses, boots, bags and jewelry mostly from the 1920s to the '90s, plus vintage furniture. UmaLu Vintage (7648 Biscayne Blvd) is a sister-run archive of '90s and 2000s designer pieces from Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana, named Best Clothing Store 2026 by Miami New Times. Mids Market (7200 NW 2nd Ave) is the budget end, and The House of Findings goes back to the Victorian era. Sweat Records (5505 NE 2nd Ave) has sold indie, electronic and local vinyl since 2005. Plant the Future runs a botanical gallery. Galleries fill the rest: Nina Johnson, Locust Projects and Primary in Little River, plus the showrooms at Miami Ironside a block off Biscayne.
Best Time to Visit
Most shops open around 11am and close by 6 or 7pm, with shorter Sunday hours, and several don't post hours at all. The galleries keep the narrowest window: Nina Johnson and Locust Projects are open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, and Primary Thursday to Saturday. Sweat Records is open until 7pm Wednesday to Saturday and closes at 5pm the other days. A Thursday or Friday afternoon is the one time nearly everything is open.
If You Only Have an Hour
Park on a side street off Biscayne and start at UmaLu Vintage (7648 Biscayne Blvd), open daily noon to 7pm. Head south to Fly Boutique (7235 Biscayne Blvd), then stop at MiMo Garden Center (7238 Biscayne Blvd) for succulents and planters. If it's close to dinner, finish at Phuc Yea (7100 Biscayne Blvd).
Where to Eat
Phuc Yea (7100 Biscayne Blvd) is the strip's Bib Gourmand, with shareable Vietnamese-fusion plates in a red-lantern room. Boia De (5205 NE 2nd Ave) holds a MICHELIN star for inventive Italian in a tiny strip-mall dining room, and its sibling Walrus Rodeo cooks over wood a few doors away. El Turco (184 NE 50th Terr) does Turkish breakfast at outdoor tables under oak trees, and Double Luck (1085 NE 79th St) is a Bib Gourmand for Chinese-American dishes.
