Insider guide
Shopping Merrick Park.
The story
The Shops at Merrick Park is Coral Gables' open-air luxury center, opened in 2002 around landscaped courtyards off Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom anchor it, and both are large enough to spend real time in: Nordstrom alone covers three levels and 200,000 square feet.
Most of the luxury stores share 342 and 358 San Lorenzo Ave, so the designer run is short. It's a calmer, more local alternative to Aventura and Dadeland, and it doubles as a home-furnishing stop.
What to Expect
Louis Vuitton opened its first freestanding store in the area here in 2023, with the full luggage line and a fragrance counter. Gucci, Jimmy Choo, CH Carolina Herrera and CAMILLA share the 358 address. For watches, Mayors runs a 4,700 sq ft flagship with Rolex, Cartier, OMEGA and TUDOR, at the same address as Tiffany & Co. Neiman Marcus has a Bvlgari shop-in-shop.
On the home side, Arhaus has a 16,195 sq ft showroom with free design services, BoConcept offers free interior consultations, and Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Lovesac round it out. gorjana sells gold jewelry with pieces under $100, and there's also a Sephora, lululemon and Vuori.
Best Time to Visit
The center opens at 11am daily and closes at 8pm Monday through Thursday, 9pm Friday and Saturday, and 6pm Sunday. Tiffany and Mayors open at noon on Sunday. Because it doesn't open until 11, it pairs well with a morning on Miracle Mile. It's open-air, so on a rainy day expect short dashes between stores, or wait it out at The Landmark, a seven-screen cinema with a full bar.
If You Only Have an Hour
Park in the garage at 4251 Salzedo St. Start at Louis Vuitton (358 San Lorenzo Ave), walk to Mayors and Tiffany & Co. at 342 San Lorenzo Ave, and finish at Neiman Marcus (390 San Lorenzo Ave), where Mariposa upstairs works for lunch.
Where to Eat
Inside the anchors, Mariposa is upstairs at Neiman Marcus and Bazille is in Nordstrom. Perry's Steakhouse & Grille, Florida's first, has a fire-lit patio lounge on the ground level, and Sawa, also on the ground level, pairs mezze with sushi. Nearby, Elyu Omakase on Ponce de Leon and Beauty & the Butcher on Red Road are both in the MICHELIN selection.
