How to Shop for Swim in Miami
Swimwear is everyday clothing in Miami, and the city sells it that way: in the flagship of a label that started here, in a Colombian designer's shop two blocks off the beach, in mall stores in Kendall and Aventura. The trick is knowing which neighborhood covers which need. Lincoln Road and Coconut Grove hold the Latin American and Miami-born labels. Bal Harbour and Brickell are where the European swim-trunk houses keep their counters. Wynwood is for cover-ups and beach dresses. The malls handle the rest, including a multi-brand swim store at Dadeland.
Everything below comes from our verified district data or from the store's own mall directory. Where we list hours, they are the hours posted for that store or its center; check before a special trip, especially in the slower late-summer months.
Lincoln Road and South Beach
Start at Luli Fama (635 Lincoln Rd, Miami Beach). The Miami-born, Latin-owned label is known for bright prints, ruched bikinis and flattering cuts. The Lincoln Road store is open daily 11am to 9pm, late enough to shop after the sun goes down.
Walk west to Liliana Montoya Swim (1113 Lincoln Rd, Store #6, Miami Beach). Colombian designer Liliana Montoya has run her swim and resortwear line since 2006, with pieces handcrafted by artisans in Antioquia and Amazonas. Look for the small gold heart; it is on every piece. Open daily 10am to 8pm.
Up Collins, on the ground floor of the 1 Hotel, Big Drop NYC (2321 Collins Ave, Miami Beach) is a family-owned New York boutique that mixes resort dresses, swimwear and cover-ups from labels like Luli Fama with Jenny Bird jewelry. It is the most convenient stop if you are staying in Mid-Beach and need a second suit by the afternoon.
Bal Harbour
Bal Harbour Shops is where the swim-trunk specialists sit a short walk apart, and both keep center hours, daily 11am to 9pm.
Vilebrequin (Bal Harbour Shops, 9700 Collins Ave) is the Saint-Tropez house built on printed swim trunks. The store carries men's, women's and kids' swimwear, which makes it the place for matching family sets before a holiday photo.
Orlebar Brown (Bal Harbour Shops, 9700 Collins Ave) is the British counterpart. The resortwear label was formed in 2007, has been part of Chanel since 2018, and is known for its Bulldog swim shorts, which carry a five-year guarantee. The rest of the store is tailored menswear and knit polos that work at a beach club lunch.
For women's swim at Bal Harbour, Zimmermann (Bal Harbour Shops, 9700 Collins Ave) is the Australian label for romantic printed dresses and linen sets, with swimwear among them.
Brickell
Brickell City Centre repeats the Bal Harbour pairing on the mainland, which is useful if you are staying downtown. Vilebrequin (701 S Miami Ave, East Block 237, Level 2) stocks its printed swim trunks, matching family sets and linen shirts. One level down, Orlebar Brown (701 S Miami Ave, East Block, Level 1) has the tailored swim shorts and knit polos. Both are open Monday to Saturday 11am to 9pm and Sunday 11am to 7pm.
Coconut Grove
The Grove has the strongest pair of swim stores on the mainland, and they are a short walk apart.
Montce (3015 Grand Ave, Suite 110, CocoWalk) is a South Florida label founded in 2009, known for its fit and for its made-to-order roots. If you have struggled to find a suit that fits, this is the store to try first. Open Monday to Saturday 11am to 7pm and Sunday 11am to 6pm.
Agua Bendita (3444 Main Hwy, Suite 4) sells the Colombian label's swimwear and resortwear, handcrafted by artisans, in sizes and styles for the whole family. Open daily 11am to 8pm.
Wynwood: Cover-Ups and Beach Dresses
Wynwood is not where you buy the suit; it is where you buy what goes over it.
Pitusa (2501 NW 2nd Ave) is Clara Lago's beachwear label, founded in 2010. The cover-ups, dresses and kids' pieces come in Peruvian pima cotton and Indian gauze, made under fair-trade practices. Open Monday to Saturday 11am to 8pm and Sunday 12 to 7pm.
Boho Hunter (314 NW 24th St) stocks designers from Mexico, Peru and Venezuela: straw bags, Panama hats, statement earrings and Brazilian swimwear. It is the stop for the hat and bag that go with the suit.
The Malls
Dadeland Mall in Kendall has two swim stores, which makes it the most efficient single stop south of downtown. The mall's second Luli Fama (Near Main Entrance, Dadeland Mall, 7535 N Kendall Dr) sits near the main entrance by Apple. In the Fashion Wing, Everything But Water (Fashion Wing, Dadeland Mall, 7535 N Kendall Dr) is a multi-brand swim store, across from Tesla; it is the place to try several labels in one fitting room. The mall is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 9pm and Sunday 11am to 7pm.
At Aventura Mall, Missoni (Aventura Mall, 19501 Biscayne Blvd, Aventura) brings the Italian house's zigzag knitwear, resortwear and swim. It follows mall hours, Monday to Saturday 10am to 9:30pm and Sunday 11am to 8pm.
Labels Without a Miami Store
Several names that come up in any Miami swim conversation do not have a store of their own in the city that we could confirm this season. ViX Paula Hermanny's Florida stores, as Simon lists them, are in Boca Raton, Sarasota and Jacksonville; the Boca Raton store is the closest. For the rest, we only list a store once we can confirm it on the brand's own locator or the mall's directory, and we will add them here when we do.
A Few Practical Notes
Pair the stops by geography. Lincoln Road and Big Drop NYC make one Miami Beach afternoon; Bal Harbour is a short drive north. Brickell and Coconut Grove make one mainland day. Dadeland covers both a Miami label and a multi-brand store under one roof. If you are buying for the whole family, go to Vilebrequin, Agua Bendita or Pitusa, all of which carry kids' pieces.
